मेवाडच्या राणा उदय सिंहला वाचवण्यासाठी स्वतःच्या मुलाचे बलिदान देणाऱ्या एका धाडसी महिलेची कहाणी आज पाहणार आहोत राजस्थानला मोठा इतिहास लाभलेला आहे तसेच राजस्थान शूर पुरुषांची भूमी म्हणून ओळखली जाते. याच राजस्थानमध्ये एक वीरांगना देखील होती जिने मेवाडचे भविष्य वाचवण्यासाठी स्वतःच्या मुलाचे बलिदान दिले.

तसेच राजस्थानची भूमी नेहमीच वीरांची भूमी राहिली आहे. येथे केवळ पुरुषांनीच नाही तर शेकडो धाडसी महिलांनी आपले प्राण अर्पण करून जगासमोर एक आदर्श निर्माण केला आहे. पन्ना धाय ही त्या धाडसी महिलांपैकी एक आहे ज्यांनी मेवाडचा आपले सर्वस्व अर्पण केले.

पन्ना धाय यांच्याबद्दल थोडक्यात

पन्ना धाय यांचा जन्म ८ मार्च १४९० रोजी चित्तौडगडजवळील माताजीच्या पांडोली नावाच्या गावात झाला. पन्ना धाय हे कोणत्याही राजघराण्यातील न्हवत्या तर गुर्जर कुटुंबातील होत्या. त्यांच्या वडिलांचे नाव हरचंद हंकला होते, त्यांनी राणा सांगासोबत अनेक युद्धांमध्ये भाग घेतला होता. राणा सांगा यांना भोजराज सिंह, रतन सिंह, विक्रमादित्य आणि उदय सिंह दुसरा असे चार पुत्र होते. जेव्हा राजा उदय सिंह यांचा जन्म झाला तेव्हा त्यांची आई कर्णावती यांची तब्येत बिघडली आणि त्या आजारी पडू लागल्या. राणी कर्णावतीची अवस्था पाहून पन्नाला बाळ उदयसिंहची परिचारिका बनवण्यात आले. पन्नाने उदय सिंगला स्तनपान दिले आणि स्वतःच्या मुलाप्रमाणे त्याची काळजी घेतली. म्हणूनच तिला 'पन्ना धाय' म्हणून ओळखले जाऊ लागले. पन्नाला चंदन नावाचा एक मुलगाही होता, जो उदय सिंगच्याच वयाचा होता. पन्नाने दोघांनाही समान प्रेमाने वाढवले. चंदन आणि उदय खूप चांगले मित्र होते तसेच उदयसिंग खूप लहान असताना, बनवीर सिंग हा राणा सांगा यांचा मोठा भाऊ पृथ्वीराज सिंग यांचा सावत्र मुलगा होता, ज्यांना खूप पूर्वीच देशाबाहेर काढण्यात आले होते. तसेच विक्रमादित्यच्या मृत्यूनंतर कोणीही सक्षम उत्तराधिकारी शिल्लक नव्हता, म्हणून त्याची नियुक्ती करण्यात आली. हुशार बनवीरला मेवाडचे सिंहासन कायमचे काबीज करायचे होते, म्हणून त्याने उदयसिंगला मारण्याचा कट रचला.

बनवीरने एका रात्री उदय सिंगला मारण्याची योजना आखली, ज्याची बातमी पन्नाला एका सेविकेमार्फत मिळाली. पन्ना धायी घाबरली आणि काय करावे ते त्याला समजत नव्हते. उदय सिंगचा जीव वाचवण्यासाठी, त्यांनी त्याला बांबूच्या टोपलीत झोपवले आणि ती टोपली पानांनी झाकली जेणेकरून कोणीही ती टोपली पाहू नये. त्याने ती टोपली त्याच्या एका खास नोकराद्वारे राजवाड्यातून बाहेर पाठवली.

दरम्यान, त्यांना बनवीरच्या आगमनाची बातमी मिळाली, म्हणून त्यांनी उदय सिंगच्या जागी त्यांचा मुलगा चंदन याला झोपवले. बनवीर आल्यावर उदय सिंगबद्दल विचारले. पन्नाने बेडकडे बोट दाखवले आणि बनवीरने चंदनला उदय सिंग समजून त्याच्यावर तलवारीने हल्ला केला. पन्ना धायने तिच्या डोळ्यासमोर तिच्या मुलाची हत्या होताना पाहिली आणि बनवीरला संशय येऊ नये म्हणून तिने आपले अश्रू रोखले.

बनवीर परत आल्यावर पन्नाने तिच्या मुलाच्या शरीराचे चुंबन घेतले आणि उदयसिंगला सुरक्षित ठिकाणी घेऊन जाण्यासाठी निघाली. पन्ना धाय यांनी अनेक राजांचा आश्रय घेतला पण बनवीरच्या भीतीमुळे कोणत्याही राजाने उदयसिंहांना आश्रय दिला नाही. पन्ना धाय कुंभलगडच्या जंगलात भटकत राहिली आणि काही काळानंतर तिला कुंभलगडमध्ये आश्रय मिळाला. जिथे मेवाडी उमरावांनी वयाच्या १३ व्या वर्षी उदय सिंहला राजा म्हणून स्वीकारले. काळाच्या ओघात, १५४२ मध्ये उदय सिंह मेवाडचे महाराणा बनले. तसेच पन्ना धाय यांच्या स्मृतिप्रीत्यर्थ चित्तौडगड किल्ल्यात एक राजवाडा बांधण्यात आला आणि उदयपूरमध्ये त्यांच्या स्मृतिप्रीत्यर्थ एक स्मारकही बांधण्यात आले. पन्ना धायची कहाणी आपल्याला राजपूतांच्या शौर्याची आणि समर्पणाची आठवण करून देते.
